Whether it was because of their love for Lord Shiva or for the books in the Shiva Trilogy, a book store in the city was buzzing with a lot of Hyderabadis on Monday evening since MBA author Amish Tripathi was in the city to talk about his latest book The Secret Of The Nagas, sequel to The Immortals of Meluha in the Shiva trilogy. People were bubbling with questions, to which Tripathi responded patiently and in detail. Narrating the story behind the inception of his books, Tripathi said, “My family and I were watching television together and we started discussing the philosophy of what is good and what is evil.” What started as a conversation between him and his family, transitioned into a Shiva Trilogy a couple of years later. He further added, “I wanted to give my philosophy of what is evil and this is when I started writing my first book. It is purely a philosophical thesis which is given in the form of a fictional story.” But, he did not achieve success overnight. There was a lot of perseverance involved. After his manuscript was rejected by various publishers, Tripathi decided to self-publish his first book. “I wanted to get this book out, I felt like it was my responsibility to share it with people,” recollected the MBA author.Tripathi, who now claims to be a hardcore Shiva Bhakt was an atheist once upon a time. It was in the process of writing the book that he found himself drawn towards Lord Shiva. “I was an atheist --- but was always surrounded by religious people in my family. I discovered faith in Lord Shiva in the process of writing my first book. And now I’m a devoted Shiva bhakt --- I wear an Om Namah Shiva kada, a rudraksh mala, chant the Mahamrityunjay jap, visit a Shiva temple every Monday. Writing this book changed my life,” confessed the Shiva Bhakt. This is why he also believes that the success of his book is also Lord Shiva’s blessings. “Success can be attributed to a good product which is served with good marketing. But it is mainly because of Lord Shiva’s grace that my book has become a success,” accepted Tripathi, who said that he does not write for money. “I don’t call myself an author. I will only call myself a Shiva Bhakt. And, if this doesn’t work, I will simply go back to my insurance job,” concluded Tripathi.
