SANGAREDDY: Stating that she has no differences with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, home minister Sabita Indra Reddy said that she had stayed away from the swearing-in of the new ministers recently as she had undergone an eye operation. Speaking to mediapersons on Sunday, Sabita Reddy, who was here to attend a marriage, said that for the maintenance of law and order the number of police personnel would be increased, but also they would be provided with sophisticated weapons. Noting that already 30,000 posts in the police department had been filled up, she said that 2,000 sub inspectors and 3200 women police would soon be recruited. she said the government was contemplating to recruit more women SIs and also increase the number of women police stations to check the crime against women.She said that police force would be strengthened in the areas bordering Nizamabad and Medak districts. The home minister said that Zaheerabad police circle bordering Karnataka would be upgraded as sub divisional level headed by a DSP and directed the Medak superintendent of police to send the proposals.She said stringent action would be initiated against those responsible for the destruction of statues of national leaders. Former minister Fariduddin was also present at the press briefing.
