I wont press for acceptance: Mekapati

NELLORE: Another big fish is trying to wriggle out of YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s net. Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, a hardcore Jagan loyalist who quit his post in support of the Kadapa MP, on Wednesday said he would not press for acceptance of his resignation when he meets Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar in Delhi on Thursday.The Lok Sabha speaker has kept the resignations of Rajamohan Reddy and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, MP of Bhongir, on hold and wanted to know the reasons for their resignation.She had rejected the resignations of others for various reasons, some for not resigning in the appropriate format and others for attending the Parliament session and drawing TA, DA and other allowances even after quitting.Decision on resignation of the two MPs is only pending.Their fate will be decided on Thursday.Speaking to newsmen here, Rajamohan Reddy said he would leave the decision to the speaker.“If she wants me to continue as an MP, I will.If she accepts my resignation, even then it is fine.I will go to elections,” he said.But analysts say Rajamohan Reddy is afraid of losing his MP post as a decision on his resignation is kept on hold.The MP was saying that he would leave the decision to the speaker because he knows fully well that his continuation as an MP depends on him and not on the speaker.Rajamohan Reddy was annoyed when he was asked why he was leaving the decision to the speaker as he could press for its acceptance.“What is wrong in respecting the suggestion of the speaker to continue as a member of the Lok Sabha?” he replied. “The resignation of J loyalists is a show,” said a Congress leader close to the chief minister.
