Lahore: Taking a serious note of former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram's assertion that white people are dominating the affairs in the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian cricketers were being neglected, the ICC has decided to send a warning letter to him.
ICC president Ehsan Mani said that the cricket's governing body had taken a very strong exception to the statements of Akram and was sending him a restraining letter.
"It is a wrong impression. We are the custodians of the game and we have a uniform policy to treat players in all cricket-playing countries. Seventy per cent of the ICC staff comprises Asian people," said Mani.
He said that it was wrong to assume that the ICC was having a biased attitude towards the Asian countries.
"Non-white officials like Pakistani umpires Aleem Dar, Nadeem Ghori and Asad Rauf are working for the ICC. Sri Lanka's Ranjan Madugalle and Roshan Mahanama are also on ICC match referee panel, he added," he added.
Earlier, Akram criticised the ICC saying it had dominance of former 'gora' (white) cricketers, who made little mark during their careers.
He also said that passion of cricket is in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, but nobody gets to ICC from these countries.
