KOCHI: The Kochi centre of Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) has requested the state government to consider its interest in contributing towards the designing of the proposed Metro railway stations as well as the effective usage of land zones available around the stations and railway lines.IIA Kochi chairman L Gopakumar handed over a representation demanding the same to Kochi Metro Rail Limited managing director Tom Jose here on Wednesday. “A large capital-intensive project like Kochi Metro Rail requires expertise in all the areas. Being a group of professionals from Kerala, we understand our land better , which will help us provide relevant solutions to varied requirements in this project,” said Gopakumar. He also urged the state government to consider utilising local expertise in major infrastructural development initiatives such as the Kochi Metro Rail that shape the facade of tomorrow’s Kochi. In his reply, Tom Jose said the KMRL will present the proposal submitted by IIA before the state government. “The final decision will be taken at the government level,” he said.
