New Delhi: The organisers of the Indian Grand Prix say they are open to switching dates for the race, amid speculation that it could be scrapped from the Formula One calendar all together next season.
"The October-November period suits us better both weather-wise as well as it being festive season," Jaypee Sports International Limited's chief executive Sameer Gaur said in a statement on Tuesday. "But if the Formula One management wants us to hold our race in March 2015 we don't have any problem with that."
Gaur was responding to media reports that the fourth edition of the Indian Grand Prix was likely to be scrapped in 2014 and the race could be shifted to March in 2015 and 2016 as part of a five-year contract.
This year's race is scheduled for October 27 at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida near New Delhi.
Formula One has a possible 22 races vying for space on the calendar, with teams wanting to compete in a maximum of 20 races per season.
The Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi is set to host its first F1 race next year.
