CHENNAI: Karthik, a five-year-old, sat in the Citi Centre Landmark with his legs crossed, head bent low and forehead creased in concentration as he coloured carefully within the lines. “I like animals. I even used the correct colours, Amma,” he said once he was done, proudly showing his mother the sheet of paper. To celebrate World Colouring Day, Landmark in association with Camlin conducted ‘Colour for a Cause’ at their outlets in Ampa Skywalk and Citi Centre. Open to children between the ages of three and 12, the competition gave them free rein to colour whatever they wanted to.All the materials were provided by the sponsors, and many children who had walked in with their parents on Sunday evening took part in the competition. Hemalatha, whose 10-year-old daughter was busy colouring, said, “I am glad that they have a productive activity for them to do. I can now browse through the books for a while.” Suresh, another parent, said, “It is so difficult to make my son sit quietly when we are out. Today he is happy to sit with the other children and colour. This is much better than watching TV. I should probably pick up a few colouring and activity books for him.”Close to 300 children participated in the activity in the Chennai centres alone, said Charles, a representative of Landmark. These festivities are a part of the Landmark Summer Carnival for Kids which is being held at all Landmark outlets in the city.
