New Delhi: On Wednesday, actress Geetika Tyagi, who was last seen in 'One by Two' and been part of other Bollywood films like 'What The Fish' and 'Aatma', took to Twitter to share a video link which featured 'Jolly LLB' director Subhash Kapoor, his wife Dimple Kharbanda, and Aurangzeb director Atul Sabharwal. The reason? She wanted to use the public platform to show how Kapoor acknowledged the sexual abuse which allegedly happened a few years back. Even though the 31-minute long video titled 'Subhash Kapoor's True Face', which was posted by Woman's Voice on Youtube, features Subhash admitting to the fact that he had misbehaved with the actress, and his readiness to face the consequences, scriptwriter Danish Raza (also Geetika and Subhash's common friend) has challenged Geetika's version. Like Danish who feels "there is no way Subhash could have been planning anything that she alleges", filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia has also reacted strongly to Geetika Tyagi's molestation accusation. It isn't just the film fraternity who has been reacting to Tyagi's molestation accusation against Kapoor. The controversy has elicited a mixed reaction from Twitter users.
To the uninitiated, Geetika's video footage shows Subhash, who had allegedly sexually abused Tyagi, saying that he was ashamed of his misconduct. "After talking to you (Sabharwal) and Geetika yesterday, she (his wife) felt that probably if you'll come, it will help. Though I don't know how it will help. But I'm here because I have no excuse, no answer to anything to her. In this entire scheme of things there is somebody who has taken the bulk... in my scenario, it is my wife who isn't connected with it, who had to accept certain things..." Subhash is seen telling Atul.
In an attempt to avert the negative impact of the incident on their son, Subhash's wife Dimple too begs Atul to keep the issue private. "When I came to your house I started off by saying that I'm offering unconditional, without any reason my apologies for my conduct," Subhash recalls.
A few minutes into the video, Kapoor tells Tyagi, "I didn't drag you inside," to which the actress reacts by saying, "You pulled me, Subhash. You were holding my hand..." As Tyagi recalls the incident, she tells Kapoor, "I can't trust any man. I don't have a single friend aaj ki date mei jisey mai bolun let us have coffee together or go out, sit and talk. Maine bahut bahut suffer kiya hai, Subhash. My own brother in law, my own father, my uncles... I'm jittery, I'm always fu***ng jittery.
Tyagi's friend Danish, who calls himself "the first hand witness" has contradicted her version. In his post on Facebook, Danish wrote, "Geetika's first narration to me of this incident, the day after it happened was not of sexual assault. To me it clearly sounded like something that happened between two people and there was no mention of an assault. Her first version was exactly same as Subhash's (consistent) version and her version changed only two days later when she alleged, in the presence of Atul Sabharwal, that 'force' was used. Even in that case she says Subhash stopped when she said 'stop" so where is molestation in it?"
As Danish says, even though he spoke to Tyagi that day at 5am, she never discussed the issue with him. "At 5 am, which must have been in the middle of the incident when she messaged me asking if I have reached home, and I called her back in response immediately, she very coolly told me " Subhash has woken up and he is leaving". there was no mention of the incident, forget force or molestation."
"All through our interaction over the 6 years, it was almost always Geetika who would initiate a meeting with three of us, (not related to work but just coffee sessions). Subhash never asked me to get Geetika along. So there is no way Subhash could have been planning anything that she alleges. And why am I doing this? Well for the same reason that I told her "Had you even hinted of molestation, at 5 a.m. in the morning I would have been the 1st person to go with you to the police station," he added.
In his attempt to support Kapoor, Tigmanshu tweeted, "If the film industry has any heart, they should boycott Atul Sabarwal as he was part of this vicious scheme to demean Subhash Kapoor." Annoyed with his comment, Tyagi was also quick to quick to Twitter to slam him for not checking his facts. "@dirtigmanshu shame!! One strong persn who shows courage DOES NOT deserve this. Check facts and then come forward to say nythg," she had posted.
Geetika's video link, which has been viewed, commented on and shared multiple times over, has also elicited a mixed reaction from Twitter users.
Even though Geetika's lost Twitter post reads, "NOT EVEN IOTA OF FEAR I AM CORRECT AND THATS MY STRENGTH. No other SECRET" there are many who think this is just a publicity stunt. "#GeetikaTyagi :"#SubhashKapoor ! We had sex but you still did not give me the
role/item song. You are a molestor !!Will file a case," was posted by menseekjustice. Another Twitter user Tushar Seth referred to Geetika's accusations as a ploy to bag a role. "Woah! Someone please give Geetika Tyagi a lead role now?" his tweet read. Karthik Sati, a twitter user, feels the controversy will help Geetika win the chance to enter the popular reality show 'Bigg Boss 8'. "@TyagiGeetika just got herself into bb8. So this is ur claim to fame..shame..hope this is the end of ur miseries and career."
As many continue to call Geetika a 'Drama Queen', 'Publicity Whore', 'loser' on Twitter, there are a few who are supporting for not bowing down to any pressure. "@TyagiGeetika saw ur video late last night.it was very disturbing.i like d way u slapped.i salute ur courage," Twitter
user Adarsh Kumar posted. "@TyagiGeetika Shameful that some people r calling this public stunt.A woman needs time to recover and speak against it.And a lot of strength," read Santoesha Bissesar's tweet.
We get you how Twitter users have been reacting to Geetika-Subhash controversy.
