THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Those who had visited the Technopark campus on Wednesday evening might have surprised a lot after watching the techies in the unusual attires. Taking a break from the the virtual world and clad in funny costumes, the techies flocked on the Technopark campus on Wednesday for a rally, the highlight of Tech-a-Break, the annual inter-cultural competition of the Technopark. The eighth edition of Tech-a-break began on Monday.In accordance with the theme of the rally ‘tribal’, ‘kindergarten’ and ‘razze-dazzle’, techies tried to look as weird as they could to make the event more interesting. Techies view the event as one for rejuvenation and fun. The three themes will be judged separately and there will be winners also.Technopark CEO K Girish Babu flagged off the rally at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Over 30 companies participated in the rally, where the techies were dressed up as tribals, toddlers and other funny costumes, said Jose Antony, a techie. The rally kick started from Park Centre, Technopark and concluded on the Technopark Cricket Ground, the main venue for Tech-A-Break, 2012. There was an open air disco on Wednesday nightThe theme of rally of seventh edition of Tech-a-Break was ‘Masquerades and Polka Dots’ where the campus witnessed hundred of techies actively participating in the rally. The tech-a-break was organised after a gap of one year.“It was great fun to see all the employees turning up for the event in a very innovative and thoughtful costumes. With Tech-a-Break and the rally, the atmosphere within the park was electrifying and vibrant and it brought out the colourful and humorous side of the techies working here. It was great to see them and the CEOs of Technopark companies letting their hair down in the rally,” said Girish Babu.Tech-A-Break began on May 19 and since then Technopark has been conducting inter-company music, dance, and sports competitions during the days. Charu Sharma, renowned cricket commentator, will be the quiz master for the Quiz, which will be held at 9 a.m. on May 24.The grand finale will be held on May 25 with Bennet and Band concert accompanied by play back singers like Alap Raju and Vijay Prakash (of ‘Jai Ho’ fame). The winners of the competition and Technopark Premium League will receive their prizes from P H Kurian, Principal Secretary for IT.
