THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hundreds of job seekers lined up to attend the two-day job fest organised by the State Government as part of its 100-days programme at St Joseph’s Higher Secondary School on Tuesday. Reputed companies like Wipro, HCL, NeST Technologies, Allsec Technologies, Alllianz Cornhill, EZE Care Systems and Solutions, Reliance, Religare, Met Life, Genpact, First Source and HTMT Global Solutions are  participating  in the job fest. The recruitment is open for Software Engineers, Network Engineers, Technical Support Executives, Customer Care Executives, HR Managers, Unit Managers, sales, call centre trainees and Marketing Managers.  “The criteria for the companies are different from one another, but most of the companies seek  candidates with  technical skills as there are more vacancies in this field,” says a volunteer of the event,  Jayakrishnan  H R.  Wipro has 500 vacancies across India and it wants to recruit about 100 candidates from here. “We are selecting candidates through a written test comprising of three papers, to check verbal, analytical and mathematics skills. We select the best from the written test and conduct group discussion and interview. We are selecting candidates for technical support executives and we have almost 600 applicants here,” says location campus manager of Wipro,  Shashank Vangala.  Freshers are at an advantage  as most of the companies look for  freshers and 2010 pass outs. “I want to be a Software Programmer and the fest has helped me to simultaneously apply for the post in various companies,” says Binu Varghese, a graduate in Computer Science Engineering. Hinduja Group of companies give on-the-spot placement to the candidates for the job of call centre trainees. “We prefer the applicants who have good communication skills for this job. The skill of a candidate can be understood after the interaction. So, we conduct only interviews for this post,” says Sathyajith R, team leader. “The job fair is the best opportunity for my daughter. She has submitted her resume to five companies and I am sure that she will be placed in this recruitment,” says Lovely Thomas, mother of a candidate.  Arts and Science Graduates, BE, B Tech, MCA, MBA, Diploma, and plus-two holders can participate in the job fest that will conclude on Wednesday. All candidates must bring five copies of resume and photocopies of mark lists to attend the recruitment drive.
