A team comprising members from several agencies is probing the murder of a senior National Investigation Agency officer in Uttar Pradesh who was involved in the Pathankot terror attack, sources said Sunday.
Members of the NIA, UP Anti Terror Squad, Special Task Force and local police are probing different aspects of the murder, the sources said.
According to the investigation, two unidentified men rode on a motorcycle to -- from village Sahaspur with their faces covered to murder the NIA officer.
They intercepted the officer's car and fired at him from point blank range. His wife wife also received bullet injuries and her condition is critical.
Investigators are probing whether there was a personal enmity angle and also whether the murder was linked to the investigations the NIA officer was involved in.
The officer, Tanzil Ahmed, was a key NIA operative who was closely involved in the prone into the terror attack at the Pathankot airbase in January.
