A security guard of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt allegedly threatened a photographer by pulling a revolver.

Pune: A security guard attached to the entourage of Hollywood celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt on Friday allegedly threatened a photographer by pulling a revolver on him after a scuffle in Pune.

The photographer of Associated Press, an international news and photo agency, was accosted and roughed up by the guard Sunil Singh of Tops Securities, a private security agency, at Sindh Society in the suburban area of Aund where the star couple are shooting for A Mighty Heart, a film based on slain journalist Daniel Pearl.

The photographer has sought anonymity and declined to comment on the issue.

Confirming the incident, Tops Security spokersperson, however, maintained that the revolver was pulled out "in self-defence."

Freelance photographer and an eyewitness to the incident Rishikesh Puranik said the AP photographer had approached Jolie with a request for a photo shoot and to exchange cards while the actress was waiting in her car at the sets.

On Friday, Jolie filmed a scene from the film at an upmarket retail outlet in Pune.

Jolie, who usually shuttles between the hotel where she has been staying since October 5 and the main shooting location at Sindh Colony, went to Spenser's Daily, the retail outlet in Aundh area of the city, for the shoot.

The star, who is playing the widow of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in the movie, filmed a scene in which her character shops at an outlet selling fruits and vegetables.

This is the first sequence that the movie crew has shot outside the Sindh Colony, which is standing in for a locale in Karachi, Pakistan.

Security concerns forced the film's producers to opt for Pune due to its similarity to Karachi.

A Mighty Heart is based on a book of the same name written by Pearl's widow Mariane. Hollywood actor Dan Futterman plays Pearl in the movie directed by Michael Winterbottom and co-produced by Pitt.

Pearl was living in Karachi with his pregnant wife in 2002 when he was abducted and killed by militants while researching a story on terrorism.
