THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P K Haneefa, the judge who had ordered a further investigation into the sensational palmolein case, has been transferred from the Vigilance and Anti- Corruption court here on Monday. He has been promoted as the Principal Sessions judge at the District court at Manjeri in Malappuram district. His order on the palmolein case had triggered a controversy last year as it contained some remarks on the role of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Haneefa had recused himself from hearing the palmolein case further following a furore resulting from a series of allegations raised against him by the government chief whip P C George. A judge would normally be transferred after completing three years in a place. However, this norm has not been followed in the case of Haneefa as he was appointed as the Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance court judge only an year ago. He was the judge in many controversial cases including the Travancore Titanium corruption case which was linked with some prominent leaders of the UDF.
