Jumbos damage crops near Hosur

HOSUR: A herd of 15 elephants damaged agricultural crops in the village near Hosur in the wee hours of Friday. The elephants from Marakatta reserve forest area in Denkanikotta taluk strayed into village and started damaging standing crops including ragi, paddy, tomato, cabbage and sugarcane.It may be recalled that crops were damaged on the outskirts of same village a few days back.Based on information, Denkanikotta forest division officials rushed to the spot and tried to chase the pachyderms by bursting crackers and beating drums. But four elephants from the group separated and entered Jaragulatti village Denkanikotta lake. Due to this, the traffic on Anchetty -Denkanikotta road was halted for a few hours.
