New Delhi: Curtains were drawn on India's campaign at the Denmark Open Super Series after the mixed doubles pair of V Diju and Jwala Gutta suffered a humiliating straight-games defeat in the quarter-finals at Odense on Friday.
The unseeded Indian pair lost 5-21 7-21 to the third-seeded English combination of Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen in a match that lasted for just 26 minutes.
In a lopsided match, Jwala-Diju couldn't provide any fight as the English pair reeled off eight points to zoom to 8-0 before pocketing the first game without breaking a sweat.
The second game was no different as the closest scoreline the Indian pair could get to with the England combo was 2-3, before Nielsen and Pedersen just walked away with the game and the match.
Jwala and Diju had reached the semi-finals of the China Masters last month.
India's highest-ranked shuttler Saina Nehwal had crashed out of the tournament in the second round on Thursday.
