New Delhi: President APJ Abdul Kalam turns 74 today. But the man, who has been at the helm of affairs of the country for over four years now, goes on with his day as usual.
Late yesterday evening Kalam left for Hyderabad where he is to participate in the celebration of the World Sight Day and deliver the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Lecture at the National Police Academy.
He will then leave for Loni in Ahmednagar district, where he will visit Pravara Medical Trust and have an interaction with local farmers through tele-conference.
Kalam?s birthday itinerary does not end there as after the teleconference, he will visit the neo-natal and pediatric ward of the trust and interact with physically challenged children.
Before returning back to Delhi in the evening, Kalam will visit various rural development programmes at Vaitagwadi village in Nashik district and interact with beneficiaries of the programmes.
Several leaders across from the Centre and the states sent messages of greetings to the President.
''The nation looks forward to continuing to benefit from Dr Kalam's wisdom and guidance in the years ahead,'' Dr Singh said in a message.
