Bengaluru: The Karnataka Education department swung into action soon after CNN-News18 reported how a UKG kid, enrolled under RTE quota in a private school, was asked to leave for poor performance.
Officials from the education department visited the Vidya Vardhaka Sangha School and instructed the authorities to conduct extra classes from April to May and help the kid cope with the studies. After these classes, the kid will be promoted to 1st standard, failing which strict action will be initiated against the school for violating RTE rules.
Experts say that under RTE if a student doesn't perform well, the onus falls on the teachers to ensure the student prepares well. Extra classes and supplement coaching will have to be given if necessary.
Earlier, the child’s parents told CNN-News18 that the boy underwent a surgery last year and hasn’t been able to cope well with the curriculum ever since. The child secured a C+ grade, just enough to pass kindergarten and the authorities at the school were allegedly not happy with it, the parents said.
The parents have alleged that the school has arranged for a re-examination on May 15 and the child will be asked to leave if he secures C+ again.
