Many BJP leaders are likely to face trouble if the state government goes ahead with its plan.
Bangalore: The newly elected Congress government in Karnataka has decided to act upon Justice N Santosh Hegde's report on illegal mining in the state. The previous BJP government had returned it to the Lokayukta seeking clarifications.
Justice Hegde had submitted his report in July 2011. The implementation of the Justice Hegde report was one of the main poll promises of the Congress in the recent Assembly elections.
The state cabinet has authorised Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister TB Jayachandra to withdraw the report from Lokayukta. The government is also planning to order a special court trial in the case. Many BJP leaders are likely to face trouble if the state government goes ahead with its plan.
