THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government will launch an operation to free the Rani, Chithira ‘kayal padasekharams’ in Alappuzha district from the hands of the real estate mafia, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said.The government will embark upon the new initiative after finishing its commitments in Attappadi and Idukki, he told the Assembly on Thursday. The regions confiscated by the Communists in the 1960s, were now in the hands of the real estate mafia. ‘’They will be brought back into government hands,’’ he said. In the next five years, the state will be made ‘’Zero Landless Kerala,’’ by speeding up the government’s initiative to provide land to all. In its first 100 days, the UDF Government could distribute 27,812 title deeds. The government would initiate Phase II operations in Munnar once the court cases are settled, Thiruvanchoor said. The Kerala State Housing Board will launch a rental housing scheme for the poor in Kuttanelloor, Thrissur and Kozhikode. An eight percent increase in revenue has been recorded from checkposts upto August 31 compared to the corresponding period the previous year, Finance Minister K M Mani said. The collection upto August 31 this year is Rs 119 crore.Last year, it stood at Rs. 111.26 crore.
