HYDERABAD: Just a couple of weeks ahead of the New Year, police Sunday arrested a city-based event manager and a Kenyan drug peddler for possession of 15 gm cocaine. Cops suspect the event manager purchased the drugs for distributing to customers during New Year parties.Acting on a tip-off, police kept watch on movements of an African national, Peter George and nabbed him when he delivered narcotics to Vikram Agarwal, an event manager who resides in Somajiguda.Peter came near the civil supplies office at Errummanzil on Sunday when police laid a trap and caught him along with Vikram.Police seized six gm cocaine from Vikram and nine grams from Peter.According to police, Peter is presently residing at Sainikpuri. He was in possession of a passport. During questioning, Peter told police that he came to the country on a student visa in 1991 and pursued various courses in Delhi, Gwalior and Hyderabad.He came to the city a year back and got introduced to other drug peddlers.Through them, he came in contact with a supplier of drugs based in Mumbai and was getting the contraband from him, police said. Cops are verifying the call details of both the arrested to know more about suppliers as well as customers.The drugs are reportedly sold at Rs 4,000- Rs 5,000 per gram.With seizure of drugs from an event manager, police said they would intensify vigil on suspected drug peddlers and also customers in the coming days as New Year parties are when rampant use of drugs is noticed."We have a list of customers from mobile phone details of drug peddlers arrested earlier. We will keep a tab on their movements,’’ a police officer said.
