Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF Leaders were at the receiving end of a housewife's ire in Kerala on Thursday. Sandhya, a local resident reacted strongly against the Left workers laying siege to the official residence of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy demanding his resignation, as the siege had blocked the way to her house.
This incident happened on Thursday morning and due to the police barricade Sandhya could not return to her house, after picking her children from school. The children entered through the barricade and she was stuck on the other side on her two wheeler.
Sandhya said that at the time of entering, someone from the protesters made a comment that she is 'someone like Saritha Nair, the main accused in solar scam'. This irked her and she vented out her feeling in public. On Friday the residents of the area, both men and woman protested and the police agreed to provide way for the residents. Speaking to the media Sandhya said that she had no liaison with any political parties and it was the voice of a common man suffering due to these strikes.
Sandhya said, "I was not scared when I reacted, they are also people like me. If we don't react, practices like this will continue. I had to react because if they continue this for 150 days, what will we do? When one party stops, the other will start, this is a vicious cycle. She stated that many Left front women leaders called her and even appreciated her views."
Kochouseph Chittilappilly, a businessman and founder of V-Guard said that a reward of Rs 5 lakh will be given to Sandhya for her courage. An overwhelmed Sandhya said, "I am happy that a person like him called and congratulated me. It is a motivation, it's not about the money but seeing this more people will react. I have great regards for both Left and Congress leaders."
Sandhya has now become a celebrity across Kerala.
