Kozhikode: With 3D movies making buzz across the cinema world, a group of ten animation enthusiasts hailing from Kozhikode district is busy making the first stereoscopic 3D animation film in Malayalam.
One of the major advantages of this animation film is that it can be watched in the normal mini screens and computer monitors using the Red-blue stereoscopic glasses.
Speaking to the Express director of the film Razak Vazhiyoram said that they had made several animation and other 3D films in Malayalam but the upcoming project was the first-of-its-kind venture in the state.
"The technology we are using is a traditional one and is common in the European countries."
Animation film is being produced using the Maya 3D software. They are also seeking expert advice from abroad.
Though the team is vastly experienced and already made their mark in the field by producing several animation and home cinemas, they have said that the new project was a sheer challenge to them.
"It is a slow process. We have been engaged in the project for the past one year and the cost of the project and the difficulty to get the glasses have once made us to abort the project. But now we are quite confident and are making steady progress," Ameen Vengara, animation director of the film said.
The animation film titled 'Circus Kaduva' is specially meant for the children and produced under the banner of Carrot Creations.
"It is a one-hour film and will generate lot of fun for the children. Apart introducing a new technique, the film also sheds lights on the importance of protecting the environment," Razak added.
The film is expected to be completed at a cost of Rs 3 lakh and the team is planning to market it by releasing the CD along with the Red-Blue stereoscopic glasses, which will be imported from China.
