Patna: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's horse Pawan, earlier bought by a farmer for Rs 1,01,000, was resold to Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United legislator Anant Singh for Rs 1,11,000 on Sunday.

Singh, a legislator from Mokama, said: "Yes, I have purchased this horse from a man who had bought it."

The earlier owner, Baleshwar Rai of Bindupur village near Hajipur in Vaishali district, bought Pawan at the Sonepur cattle fair held near here. The horse had been on sale at one of Asia's largest cattle fair for a staggering Rs 1,51,000.

Lalu Prasad said: "My horse Pawan was sold. Now he gets a new owner, but the horse will be known as Lalu's horse wherever it goes."

The minister said he loved Pawan but was not able to look after it. "I decided to sell the horse because I found it difficult to take care of it due to my busy schedule.

"Anyway, I will keep inquiring about my horse, whether the new owner is taking proper care of it or not. If I find something wrong, I will take my horse back and keep it in my small stable here again," he added.
