Patna: The Patna High Court on Wednesday acquitted 16 persons accused in the 1997 Laxmanpur-Bathe massacre in Bihar.
In one of the worst massacre in the state, 58 Dalits including 27 women and 16 children were killed allegedly by the upper caste Ranvir Sena on the night of December 1, 1997.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge Vijai Prakash Mishra of the Patna Civil Court sentenced 16 men to death and 10 to life imprisonment for the Laxmanpur-Bathe massacre on April 7, 2010.
