Srinagar: A man claiming to be the spokesperson of the Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) called up a TV channel in Srinagar on late Sunday to deny links with the Indian Mujahideen.
The caller spoke to the the bureau chief of Zee News and identified himself as the spokesperson of LeT, Abdullah Ghaznavi.
He said that the LeT condemned the September 13 bombings in Delhi. He said, "We condemn the recent bombings in Indian capital New Delhi and also denounce the propaganda that LeT has any links with the so-called Indian Mujahideen group."
He added, "LeT does not believe in targeting innocent, unarmed civilians. We are engaged in fighting the Indian armed forces in Kashmir...our struggle shall continue till Kashmir’s freedom from India. Attempts to link us with bombings against innocent civilians are condemnable as their intention is to malign our organisation.”
Delhi Police officials have said that the Indian Mujahideen, had claimed responsibility for the serial bombings in New Delhi. The bomb blasts had killed 24 people September 13.
Joint Commissioner of Police Special Cell, Delhi Police, Karnail Singh had said that the terror module behind the blasts is a deadly cocktail of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Hizbul Mujahideen, Indian Mujahideen and Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
