New Delhi: LG is all set to announce the launch of its curved smartphone, G Flex, in India on Wednesday. According to our sources, the company will showcase the phone on Wednesday at an event in India, but it is unlikely to go on sale this year. The phone might hit store shelves in January 2014.
Besides the LG G Flex, the company is also going to unveil what it is calling "something revolutionary". The only information that we have as of now about the new product is that it will be from the home entertainment category. Altogether, LG will be showcasing its two new products in India on Wednesday.
The LG G Flex is the company's first curved display smartphone. It features a 6-inch 720p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor. The 6-inch display found on the G Flex is claimed to be the world's largest Plastic OLED (POLED) display developed and mass produced specifically for smartphones.
It includes 2GB of RAM. The phone has a 13 megapixel camera and has rear-mounted control buttons like the ones on the LG G2. The phone has a 13 megapixel rear camera. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Round that curves from left to right, LG's G Flex goes orthogonally from top to bottom.
According to LG, the curved battery in the G Flex is designed with a technology technology, which reduces the physical stress on the battery pack when in the curved form and provides better stability and performance. The LG G Flex battery has a capacity of 3,500mAh.
LG had unveiled the G Flex smartphone back in October.
