RAJAHMUNDRY: East Godavari district sixth additional sessions judge K Bhishma Gangeyudu awarded death sentence to one Karem Srinivas Dora here on Monday, for the rape and murder of a minor girl. He was also awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 376 and seven years imprisonment under Section 354 of the IPC and a penalty of Rs 2,000. All the three sentences would run concurrently. According to police, Madhuri Veeraveni (15) of Beerampalli village of Gangavaram mandal was raped and murdered by Karem Srinivas Dora on July 14, 2008. The girl, a ninth class student then, boarded a bus in her village and alighted at Nellipudi village to go to her school located in Mallavaram. Srinivas Dora, a salesman, noticing that she was alone at the bus stop, took the girl forcibly on his bike to a nearby forest. He then raped and later, set her ablaze by pouring petrol on her. Madhuri’s parents lodged a complaint with the Gangavaram police on July 15, stating that their daughter was missing. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case. Some persons, who saw Srinivas Dora taking the girl on his bike, informed the same to the police. Acting on the information, the police arrested Srinivas Dora on July 23.
