A 35-year-old man was attacked with daggers and sickles allegedly by the relatives of his first wife after a divorce hearing at Upparapalli court under Rajendranagar police station limits on Saturday.

Police said the victim, Sekhar Yadav (35), a resident of Moinabad, got estranged with his first wife, Sony, and married another woman, Srilatha. Sony and Yadav were married for seven years. Sony filed a petition against Yadav alleging that he got second marriage without giving her divorce.

At around 11.30 am, when Sekhar Yadav and his friend Narasimha Reddy came out of the court after the hearing, three persons, said to be Sony’s relatives attacked Yadav with daggers, sickles and iron rods, said police.  Yadav suffered severe injuries and collapsed on the ground in a pool of blood. His friend, Reddy, alerted police who shifted the victim to a  hospital. His condition is stated to be critical.
