BHUBANESWAR: Adapting to changes being the success mantra, management guru Moid Siddiqui has started fine-tuning the basics behind managing change to employees of Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) and ITDC-run Hotel Kalinga Ashok (HKA) here. It was part of a three-day workshop which got underway on Saturday. With massive technological advancement, the public sector hospitality industry is updating itself to stay in reckoning. Siddiqui is showing the ropes on managing change to 24 participants, 12 each from the IHM and the HKA, and giving lessons on how the hospitality industry can benefit by handling the changes in a proper manner. “I will teach the participants the total process of the change and the way to deal with the changing times. It is up to the participants how they imbibe the lessons,’’ said Siddiqui. He has 35 years of experience in the change management sector. The IHM’s faculty member Arya Kumari Panigrahi said, ‘’The workshop is focused on what the hospitality industry of the State needs. Improving quality tops our agenda.’’ “We have been working very hard to restore pristine glory of the hotel,’’ said HKA general manager Sagnik Chowdhury. The workshop will cover all aspects of change and managing it like change barriers, organisational transformation, balancing negative and positive forces and much more. The HKA is getting a major facelift and its turnover looking up. They are now focused on getting the best output from their existing staff by training and educating them, rather than increasing the manpower. ‘’We will be conducting several more similar workshops in near future,’’ said Chowdhury. Principle of the IHM Malik M Altaf took part.
