Former CPM Idukki district secretary M M Mani has once again created a storm by allegedly claiming that the party was behind the murder of INTUC leader M Balasubramanium alias Balu as a retribution to the murder of CPM leader Ayappa Das. He was speaking at a party rally against price rise of essential commodities at 10th Mile at Adimali on Friday night.
Mani said that he didn’t know why he was booked in the murder case of Youth Congress leader Anchery Baby. Mani’s revelation comes at a time when the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is all set to file its report in connection with the investigation against Mani and others in the Anchery Baby murder case in Nedumkandam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Monday.
Mani had also targeted the CPM’s close ally CPI by terming it unreliable partner. He also compared CPI state secretary Pannyan Ravindran with legendary ‘vadakkanpattu’ character Chandu who betrayed his cousin Aromal at a crucial time.
When contacted, CPM Idukki district secretary K K Jayachandran said he was not aware of what Mani had said. He said that without ascertaining the facts that he would not be able to make any comment.
