New Delhi/Mumbai: In a surprise development on Monday, gangster Abu Salem reportedly confessed that he was given a supari (a murder bid) by Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala to kill her secretary Ajit Dewani.

Salem reportedly made the said confession during his brain-mapping and narco tests in Mumbai.

However, Mumbai Police remained tight-lipped about the media reports and refused to entertain queries in this regard.

Dewani was killed in the Mumbai suburb of Oshiwara in June 2001 and Salem had confessed in an earlier statement in February 2006 that he was involved in this murder.

This was the third case in which Salem had confessed his role, the first being the 1993 bomb blast case and the second in Pradeep Jain murder case.

Salem is also reported to have disclosed to the magistrate, the names of all Bollywood personalities from whom he had extorted money, the sources said.

Salem have been may be known as one of the men behind the 1993 Mumbai blasts but his Bollywood influential connections have also surfaced.

From music baron's Gulshan Kumar's murder in 1998, to attack on filmmaker rakesh Roshan in 2000, Salem's involvement with the murky goings-on in the film industry are deep-rooted.

He has also made extortion demands on directors JP Dutta, Rajiv Rai and Subhash Ghai and actors Shah Rukh Khan, Amrish Puri, Karisma Kapoor, Govinda, Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan.
