CHENNAI: ‘Q’ branch sleuths arrested state secretary of Communist Party of India (Maoist) at Shenoy Nagar early on Saturday after he failed to appear in court in connection with a case of providing arms training.Police officials said Vivek (29) of the Maoist party (regarded as a terrorist outfit by the Centre) was arrested in 2007 for providing arms training to members of his group at Periyakulam, Theni district. Later, when the case was taken up in the court in Periyakulam, he had allegedly failed to appear, police said.Vivek had 10 other aliases including Balan, Anandan, Raja, Kumar and Rajamani. Officials said ‘Q’ Branch sleuths, who received information that the he was hiding in a house at Shenoy Nagar, had watched his activities for over a week before nabbing him on Saturday.Police sources said during his arrest, a woman escaped from the house and officials found that she was Padma alias Sathya Mary, who was also involved in providing arms training to a group at Uthankarai in Dharmapuri district in 2006.
