Chennai: Six months after joining hands to form an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, the MDMK has passed a resolution at a meeting of the district secretaries to quit the NDA alliance.
MDMK claimed that during the alliance formation, all the BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted that they will not support Sri Lanka but they back tracked. "BJP has been acting against Tamils. Modi wished Rajapakse for elections. His government is silent on Swamy's proposal for Bharat Ratna for Rajapakse for destroying LTTE.
Vaiko also condemned Rajapaksa's visit to Tirupati. BJP government has not taken care of the people's needs of Tamil Nadu. Modi is betraying people of Tamil Nadu.
The MDMK also said that the Modi government has not helped in solving fishermen issue. "No compensation has been given to the fishermen. The release of the five fishermen was a drama. Indian government schemed release of the fishermen to cheat Tamil people because they wanted to strengthen diplomatic ties with Sri Lanka," MDMK chief Vaiko said.
