THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A media team from Jammu and Kashmir visited Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Friday and discussed the socio-political conditions of Kerala.The Chief Minister told the 12-member team that Kerala became a model for other states in social development which was attained through  universalisation of education. He also informed them that the state stood  in the forefront of media freedom and awareness about media.The mediapersons informed the Chief Minister that the main role of Jammu and Kashmir media was to bring the whole of the state to the mainstream. This has prevented the common masses from getting involved in the Kashmir problem to a certain extent, they added.The team is accompanied by PIB joint director Pallavi Chinia, Home Ministry’s  Media and Communication Director, Rabeender Singh, CRPF PRO Mohsin Sahidi, PIB deputy director Jacob  Abraham, Communication officers  Tariq A Ravuthar and K A Beena.The team will visit Kovalam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakaulam Attappady and Silent Valley during their stay in Kerala as part of the media exchange programme organised by the Union Home Ministry and PIB. The team will be in the state till January 20.
