Maharashtra: A twelve-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by a proxy employee at Ninadhi Ashram School in Buldhana area of Maharashtra. Prime accused Itul Singh was not a permanent employee and filling in for someone.
Ashram shalas are government-run or government-aided residential schools, mainly for tribal children.
The remand copy reveals some shocking details in relation to the alleged rape of a tribal minor student at the school. As per the remand copy, the girl told police she was repeatedly raped at knifepoint by the accused who also threatened to kill her.
The remand copy further mentions that teachers and other staff members were in the know of the incident and did not inform police deliberately.
The case was registered against 13 persons on Friday, two are absconding. Those arrested include staff members of the school who allegedly did not report the incident to the police.
The warden of the dormitory also knew about the crime, but deliberately skipped the night rounds so that the accused could continue sexually assaulting the girl.
The girl also informed the headmaster named Lowdkar, but she was asked to keep quite. She even informed that other girls are also being raped in the same manner. Lowdkar is still absconding.
Police on Saturday said they are taking statements of other girls too and gathering more evidence. "As the Diwali vacation is going on, it's taking some time to gather statements as most of the girls have gone to their respective homes," said an officer investigating the case.
State woman's commission chairperson Vijaya Rahadkar visited the school and said that it is not suitable for girls to stay and study in the school.
