Miscreants injure 2, rob empty cash box

BANGALORE: The miscreants, who attacked a security guard and an employee of State Bank of India, thought they had succeeded in accomplishing their mission. In fact, they had managed to escape with a cash box after injuring the duo. It took some time for them to realise that they had robbed an empty box.The broad day light robbery took place in front of SBI’s Bhyraveshwaranagar branch near Mudalapalya in Chandra Layout police station limits at around 11.30 am on Saturday. Chandramurthy (45), the bank’s security guard, and Krishnamurthy (38), the bank messenger, sustained major injuries in both hands. They were operated at a private hospital in Nagarabavi.According to the police, Krishnamurthy, Chandramurthy, another guard Manohar and driver Ramakrishna   came to the Bhyraveshwarenagar branch at around 11.15 am. Both Krishnamurthy and Chandramurthy entered the bank with cash while Manohar and Ramakrishna sat in the vehicle, which had Rs 70 lakh in cash. The duo deposited Rs 10 lakh in the bank and as they came outside, a gang of four bike-borne miscreants attacked them with weapons.First, they struck on both the hands of Chandramurthy, as he had slung a rifle around his shoulders. Next, they attacked Krishnamurthy, who was carrying the empty cash box and injured both his hands. They snatched the box from him before speeding away on two bikes, the police explained.Immediately, Manohar and Ramakrishna shifted the duo to a nearby hospital for treatment. “The miscreants might have observed their movements from a few days and they might have hatched a plot and executed the plan,” the police added.Krishnamurthy, a native of Dindiganahalli in Nagamangala of Mandya district, was a volleyball player. His finesse in the game had also got him the job in SBI 20 years ago. But now, his hands have been badly damaged.
