Miss Great Britain has been forced to return her tiara after accidentally admitting that she was bedding a judge.

London: Miss Great Britain has been forced to return her 'tiara' and step down for "bringing the pageant into disrepute," after letting slip that she was bedding judge Teddy Sheringham when he voted for her in the final of the contest.

Danielle Lloyd has always maintained that her relationship with the England footballer began after the contest ended in February, insisting they hit it off at the party after the awards.

Sheringham had been the only judge who voted for Lloyd, and she later won in a public vote.

However, after accidentally admitting to a magazine that they had in fact been seeing each other for at least two months before then, the 22-year-old beauty has been notified by the Miss Great Britain committee that she was being stripped of the title forthwith.

The letter, seen by the Mail, states: "Given that you have maintained that your relationship with Mr Sheringham began the night of the Miss Great Britain Final (25th February 2006), this article presents the Miss Great Britain company with a grave problem."

"Mr Sheringham was a judge on the night of the Final, which you won on the combined audience and Judges vote. He was the only judge who voted for you. Therefore, you have brought the Miss Great Britain pageant into disrepute," The Daily Mail quoted chairman, Miss Great Britain, Robert de Keyuser as saying.

"As a result and after much consideration, we are removing the title of Miss Great Britain from you, effective from Friday. Please make note that you will no longer be able to use this title or refer to yourself as Miss Great Britain or ex Miss Great Britain," he added.

Lloyd made the gaffe in a gushing interview with Eve magazine, out on Friday, in which she speaks of how Sheringham presented her with a pair of Jimmy shoes worth 7,000 pounds while they were in bed last Christmas morning.

However, her publicist Max Clifford has claimed that although she did give interview to Eve magazine, she had simply being 'trying to be helpful' to the magazine and in fact did not know Sheringham before the final.

What's your reaction?
