New Delhi The India, Sri Lanka team have arrived in Chandigarh for the second ODI to be played at at Mohali on October 28.
Punjab police has made elaborate security arrangements for the match and the venue has been cordoned off.
But the Punjab police are going to be on tough toes. They are charging the PCA Rs 73 lakh for security at the Mohali stadium.
PCA, which has not paid Rs 18 lakh rupees for the recent Challenger Series and Rs 47 lakh for past matches, says it is the duty of Punjab police to provide security for the match and they should not ask money for it.
PCA president Inderjit Singh Bindra reviewed the arrangements for the match with PCA and Punjab government officials.
Bindra's argument is not enough to convince the police.
The Mohal police said that cricket matches at Mohali are a commercial venture and the PCA is making money out of these matches. Why can?t they pay us our due?
SSP, Punjab police, Ropar Surinder Pal Singh says he wants his force to be paid as per the laid down procedures.
For the India and Sri Lanka ODI, 750 police personnel will be deployed. Of these 750 personnel, 16 will be gazetted officers, four SPs and 12 DSPs.
PCA General Secretary MP Pandove said, "We have been paying towards the police welfare fund or provide food to the personnel. It is the duty of the police to maintain law and order situation and manage traffic."
"PCA has to pay guarantee money to the board before every match. It has paid Rs 25 lakh for the coming October 28 match, and for the last Test in Mohali between India and Pakistan, it paid Rs 30 lakh," said PCA official.
"The revenue of the match comes from ticket sales, advertisements on the ground and panels, television rights and sponsors. PCA earns between Rs 1 crore and Rs 1.5 crore per match," added PCA official.
Sources said stadium advertisement rights were already sold by the PCA to 21st Century Media for three years, and it has five-year contract with Ambuja Cement.
Now, the advertisement rights around and on the television screen in the stadium are left unsold.
