Mumbai attack perpetrators must be punished: Boucher
Boucher feels Mumbai attacks tragedy should call for more cooperation.

New Delhi: US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Richard Boucher told a pre-departure press conference in Bangladesh that the people and the groups behind the Mumbai attacks need to be investigated and punished.

The US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher said, “You've seen in our reaction to the Mumbai bombings, that we believe it needs to be turned into an opportunity for cooperation. This was a horrible attack, and the people who did it, the groups behind it, anyone who's involved needs to be investigated and found out, and punished.”

“I do think this is a good idea to have a, see if we can't create a South-Asian task force against terrorism. I said, you know, the countries of the region need to move forward, need to think about how to move forward on this. And we'll think about how we can support it, if it comes to pass,” he added.

“The countries of the region, if they want us to provide some kind of support, we'd be glad to consider it,” concluded Boucher.
