Narrow escape for school children as van catches fire

Nearly two dozen children from a local school here had a narrow escape when a van carrying them caught fire today, police said.

The incident took place this afternoon when the van, which was on its way to the school in Gola town, caught fire.

However, the students were timely taken out from the vehicle after the locals spotted the fire, they said.

The driver of the van fled from the scene after the incident.

The vehicle has been seized by the police and a case registered against the errant driver, police added.
