CHENNAI: Join the Indian Army, they need bright young people like you, said Dr C Sylendra Babu, Inspector General of Police, North Zone, Chennai, as he gave a call to the NCC student cadets at the valedictory function of 30th Cadofest -2011-2012, a State-level intercollegiate competition, on Thursday at the Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.Addressing the students, he shared his experience as an NCC cadet, and how it inspired him to take up police service. “Most of the values I practise even today were learnt during my NCC days,” said the IGP.He encouraged the students to get ‘B’ or a ‘C’ certificates as NCC cadets, which will make them eligible to go straight to the interview of the SSB Exams ( Service Selection Board) and join the armed forces.He also requested the management of the DG Vaishnav college to set up a training centre for NCC cadets to prepare them to crack the interview of SSB exams, which will benefit the students.Cadofest is the brain child of D G Vaishnav’s infantry unit of the NCC, and the college has been hosting this State-level intercollegiate event for the last 30 years. This year, 16 colleges participated in the fest.
