New Delhi: More than 2,500 students from colleges in Goa took to the streets demanding computers under the Cyberage Student Scheme of the Goa government be given to them.
The students blocked all entry and exit points into the capital city of Panjim. The police had to finally intervene and arrest all the students.
Under the scheme there shall be a supply of one computer consisting of one monitor, multi-media PC, along with uninterrupted power supply and necessary connecting cords allotted with requisite software and operating system to every student who applies for it.
The state government came up with the scheme to capitalise on the information technology boom and to make sure all students in Goa know how to handle computers.
The students will be supplied the computers in their home as the scheme says that the computers in schools are not adequate enough to ensure a complete education.
