TIRUPATI: Refuting the reports that the TTD proposed to hand over its educational institutes to the government, TTD executive officer LV Subrahmanyam has said that the TTD is working on the methods to upgrade the standards of education in all the TTD-run institutions.Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, he said that the prime motto of the TTD was to provide high quality of education with a blend of spirituality and good ethics to students as they were the future citizens of the nation and observed that there was an urgent need to upgrade the teaching standards and impart quality education in all the 35-odd TTD-run institutions.“In this connection, we have identified two reasons _ shortage of teachers and need to improvise supervision,’’ he said and added the TTD was contemplating alternative methods to overcome these two drawbacks by recruiting teachers on contract appointment and also appointing supervisory officers to upgrade the standards.Joint executive officer KS Srinivasa Raju and others were present.All-party Meet Threatens StirLeaders of various political parties at a round table conference held here on Tuesday urged the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) not to hand over its educational institutions to the government to safeguard the interests of poor students, particularly weaker sections. The leaders also decided to lead a delegation of student representatives and local people to TTD executive officer LV Subramanyam before the board meeting slated on August 18 to press for the withdrawal of the proposal.The leaders, including CPM district secretary Kumar Reddy, PCC joint secretary Naveenkumar Reddy, PRP state organising secretary Saikam Jayachandra Reddy, RPI state secretary P Anjaiah, CPI town secretary C Penchalaiah, TDP district vice president S Sudhakr Reddy, Telugu Mahila district president Pushpavathi, YSRC party leader SK Babu and others resolved to launch a joint struggle if the TTD went ahead with its proposal to hand over its educational institutions to the government.They also resolved to involve the respective state units to intensify the fight for safeguarding the TTD educational institutions. Kumar Reddy, Penchalaiah and Anjaiah accused the EO of ignoring local leaders while taking decisions pertaining to local students.
