CUTTACK: Senior neurologist and Additional Professor, AIIMS, Delhi, Dr Manjari Tripathi on Monday visited the alleged Pipili gangrape victim at SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) here and reviewed her condition. She advised continuation of physiotherapy and music therapy for the victim who continues to be in a semi-comatose state. She has been assisting the doctors of the SCBMCH in deciding treatment modules for the patient. Dr Tripathi had earlier been consulted by the SCBMCH through video conference. She observed that there is no marked improvement in the condition of the 19-year-old. She is still in a vegetative state and her condition is fluctuating frequently owing to the severity of the injury. She pointed out that the treatment, provided to the alleged victim, is the best and there is no need to shift her to AIIMS. The expert also took note of bedsore and stated that it is not abnormal as the girl is confined to bed without any movement for such a prolonged time. Dr Tripathi had been assigned with the responsibility of guiding treatment following the request by the State Government. The Government had called upon the AIIMS authorities to depute a Professor to examine the condition of the girl on the recommendations of Director, National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Dr Divakar Basak. The Orissa High Court had also directed for obtaining the services of experts from other top medical institutes. The girl is under the special care of a team of experts comprising heads of seven clinical disciplines of the SCB.
