As Parliament okays Tricolour and National Emblem display on clothes, you can show-off your patriotism on anything except undergarments.

New Delhi: As Parliament okays the display of the Tricolour and National Emblem on clothes, people will now be able to express their patriotism without the fear of prosecution.

The Rajya Sabha on Monday approved the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2005 and the State Emblem of India (Prohibiton of Improper Use) Bill, 2005 ? as earlier passed by the Lok Sabha.

Before the two Bills were passed by voice vote, Home Minister Shivraj Patil ? in his reply to the combined discussion on the two legislative measures ? said the measures were in response to the suggestions by a large number of people from across the country.

The Bills allow sportspersons and other people wanting to wear the National Colours and Emblem on their cap, shirt or coat provided the Emblem is not displayed on the back or below the waist.

Also, the use of the National Emblem would be prohibited on under-garments and as embroidery on pillow-cases and the like, the minister said.

What's your reaction?
