KOTTAYAM: Using third-degree methods for interrogation is not the policy of the UDF Government, Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said.The police have not resorted to third-degree methods against the accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, the minister told reporters here on Thursday. The minister was replying to the allegations raised by CPM leader Elamaram Kareem that the police were using third-degree methods against the CPM men activists. “If the accused are forced by the investigating officers to give false statements, they can retract them during court trial. The investigation will move ahead according to the law,” he said.Thiruvanchoor dismissed reports that the information given by the accused were leaked out to the media.“The Home Department will not promote the leaking of information regarding the T P Chandrasekharan murder case. But, the CPM is creating obstacles to the investigation and legal proceedings. The probe will move ahead according to the legal system,” the minister said.
