Not allowed: Plastic bags seized

BANGALORE: In a raid on Thursday Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) seized around half a tonne of plastic carry bags less than 40 microns thick from two plastic manufacturing industries — Heramba Polymers and Chandana Plastic Industries at Kamakshipalya.The manufacture and distribution of these plastic bags has been banned with effect from March 15. KSPCB will take strict legal action against the violators. They can be charged with criminal case as specified in the Plastic Waste Management Rules.A similar raid was held on June 17 on three plastic manufacturing units and oneand- half-a-tonne of plastic carry bags were seized.
