One lakh saplings planted on June 5

BANGALORE: As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) planted one lakh saplings in eight locations in the city.
Home and Transport Minister, R Ashok inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling in Freedom Park. Mayor R Sharadamma, Deputy Mayor Harish and Commissioner Siddaiah also planted saplings in Freedom Park, Sankey Lake, Lingarajpuram, Ulsoor Lake and Hennur Bande.BBMP has earmarked a 16 acre area in Hennur Bande to develop a tree garden with rain water harvesting system.
