Ophthalmology conference held

CHENNAI: Vasan Eye Care recently organised VasKon ‘12, a conference to discuss the latest techniques, equipment and surgeries in ophthalmology. Over 300 prominent ophthalmologists from the United Kingdom, Singapore and all over India participated in the conference which saw intense discussion on medical practices followed in the field. The highlight of the conference were the live surgeries conducted to explain breakthrough procedures. Doctors demonstrated the latest technique of LenSX FEMTOSECOND Laser Cataract System in a live transmission of surgery.  An important topic discussed during this one-day conference was the role of lens removal in management of open and angle closure glaucoma.  Practitioners in the field interacted with experts, raising questions on the finer aspects of surgery and procedures that were spoken of. “Rare and complex surgeries take place every day but are not known to everyone. This conference was an opportunity to share that knowledge with others.
