Opposition members including that of Congress and NPP on Friday staged a walkout from the state assembly demanding abolition of Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (RTET).
During the Question Hour, dissatisfied with Education Minister K C Saraf's answer, opposition members led by Leader of Opposition (Congress) Rameshwar Dudi and Nationalist People's Party Dr K L Meena first rushed to the well, and other members shouted slogans from their seats pushing the ruling BJP government to make it clear whether TET will continue or not.
The Speaker directed them to return to their seats, but members of Congress, NPP and Independents stood in the well and reiterated their demand alleging that on the eve of assembly polls last year the BJP had announced to abolish RTET, if voted to power, but now they were making excuses.
On education minister's reply that the government had set up a high level committee to review TET and decision on its continuance would be decided then, the Opposition members blamed the Raje government for ditching the voters by making false promises during the Suraj Sankalp Yatra.
Saraf told the house that since the TET matter was pending in the Supreme Court, the state government could not take any such decision and it was related to the policy matter and Centre's direction to hold TET.
In his supplementary question, National People's Party (NPP) leader Meena alleged that the BJP government was trying to deprive candidates of SC/ST/OBC from the benefit of reservation in the process of TET appointments.
As the Opposition members did not settle down, the ruling members also stood up from their seats making counter allegations which went unheard in din. Amid uproar the Leader of Opposition Dudi led the walkout from the House.
However after their departure, Education Minister asserted that the BJP government would promulgate its election manifesto in totality and the state government had adopted Suraj Sankalp Patra as policy document.
